A Gift of Song
Plodding on wet gravel,
I walked a mile today.
Looked forward to our travel,
Fall held the hope of May.
A small song skipped lightly,
Perked my heart and mind,
Conveyed to me so brightly,
In a way clever and kind.
The day holds such promise;
To verve of life a boost,
Vitality poured on us,
‘Til time for birds to roost.
How amazing to receive,
A lift for all day long.
Company from morn to eve,
A thoughtful gift of song.
