Lighten the Luggage
When your mouth is like an old valise,
Your eyes dull, sad, and glassy,
To give your face welcome release,
Your smile and step grow classy,
Just see a friend, all satchel-mouthed;
Think how to boost his courage;
Although his fortune seems gone south,
His state you won't disparage.
If you acknowledge hard times come,
But, when shared with a friend,
Two heads and hearts can make things hum,
Bring "old luggage" to an end.
