The Search for Kind Humor
Cash sang of the clash at the turn of a joke;
That leads us to note that a laugh can be mean.
The stand that ensued, smell of black powder smoke,
Danger and mayhem, a most tragic scene.
The result of this observance is sure;
A joke that is cutting may lead to a fight.
An insult, innuendo, or even a slur,
And it may be too late to get our act right.
Let's search and research for humor that's kind;
Turns your mouth up while splitting your sides.
Even laugh at ourselves; nobody will mind,
Gunman laughing out loud as leaving he rides.
But you'll miss the excitement of black powder smoke,
And the stand in the street at the turn of a joke.
